Shouldn't it be open to competition? Q. for people living in areas where you need a satellite to get digital, you can only buy freesat from Sky. Isn't that ridiculous, I don't know why it's not available from different companies. Edit: Well quite a lot of people live in areas where the digital signal is only available from Freesat, so by turning off the analogue signal, the government is making us pay150 pounds to a private company. Model: Sony Digital Satellite Receiver V.8.94, used for picking up DirectTV...it's the one with the SIM cards (we used football cards). Wondering if this thing can work again without having to buy a new box. It has a seriel port for data transfer so thought you might be able to load some software to get free satellite. Asked by RockOn! - Mon Oct 1 00:10:39 2007 - - 2 Answers - 2 Comments A. Although it was possible years ago using the football card and others, those cards will NOT work anymore regardless of what anyone tells you. You must have a newly activated P5 card from DTV and there is no hacking it anymore. weeder Answered by weeder - Mon Oct 1 15:25:05 2007 can i receive digital terrestrial tv with a digital satellite receiver (eurostar)?
Q. I only have the receiver not the dish. Asked by tabletyz - Tue Dec 4 03:58:25 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Some satellite boxes have a separate TUNER for the Local HD stations... If your model does have that, then you can use it to RECIEVE the local stations. You watch the stations on Channel 3 or if you want HD, you must use the component or HDMI video output for HD signals to get to your TV set... Channel 3 is NOT HD at all, it is only SD (low definition)...It's there for the older non-HD TV sets.
