Wireless communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of enhanced electrical conductors or "wires". The distances involved may be short (a few meters as in television remote control) or long (thousands or millions of kilometers for radio communications). When the context is clear, the term is often shortened to "wireless". Wireless communication is generally considered to be a branch of telecommunications. It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable two-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. Other examples of wireless technology include GPS units, garage door openers and or garage doors, wireless computer mice, keyboards and headsets, satellite television and cordless telephones. Answered by Ainoskedu - Wed Jul 4 07:25:33 2007 How can I get wireless internet without using a desktop? Q. I got a laptop for X-mas, and my old desktop used Linksys router for wireless internet. However, my desktop got a virus. Now I don't have wireless internet since I don't remember the authorization code (?) to connect to my wireless internet (I had saved the code on my desktop). Is there anyway to get wireless internet without the use of a desktop? Asked by Aurianna Rodriguez - Wed Jun 23 15:28:28 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. there are two solutions for you. 1. use a pin to reset your router back to factory setting and reconfigure it. 2. get a linux LiveCD Distro such as Puppy Linux ( approx. 128MB), download it, burn it to a cd-r, reboot the compuer, load into Puppy, mount the Harddrives/partitions, locate the file with your wireless info. Q. OK, ideally I would like to restrict access to my internet connection by turning the wireless BT hub off but still allow my desktop to connect via the ethernet connection? Daughter uses her laptap for coursework/projects etc and is connected via the wireless element. My desktop is ethernet connected. Can this be done?
