what do you think about them finger scanners at the grocery store?
Q. i have noticed that at the grocery store they have these finger scanners to scan your finger prints to pay for your purchases, is this not disturbing to you? Whats next? do away with money all together and pay for everything with your fingerprints? it takes the money right out of your checking account. any one else think this is a little too high tech or that its a little scarry?

How much do you think those handheld scanners used by Wal-Mart dept. managers cost?
Q. I work as an instock associate at Wal-Mart (just transferred over to this new store 2 weeks ago from being a cart pusher for more than a year thank God) and I was wondering how much those Symbol handheld scanners that we use to scan barcodes and get information about backstock cost. About $300? $500? The scanners communicate wirelessly with our SMART computer system. Symbol Technologies manufactures them. So, are they at least $500? Some managers think they cost about $3,000, but I don't see how...

A. It depends on the scanner itself. If it's a "dumb" scanner connected to a computer (or cash register), it probably could be just a few hundred dollars. All it does is read a barcode and the computer does all the real work. However, if it's a larger scanner with a keyboard and display built in, it could very well be $2000-3000. It's basically a miniature computer and scanner built as one and it communicates with a server via a radio-frequency network. The cost probably also includes some type of service agreement. Instead of trying to repair damaged units by themselves, they send them back to Symbol to be repaired.

My computer is low on memory and I need virus scanners?
Q. My computer has been telling me that it is low on memory. I have a Dell Windows XP Home Edition. How can I fix this problem? How do I delete any unused files (manually). Also, I would like to know some virus scanners that I can easily download and use. I have Spy Bot.
