How does one gain consulting experience?
Q. I've been working in human resources for a few years now and would love to move into something a bit different. It seems like many of the consulting jobs advertised require 3-5 years of experience, which I don't have! Any thoughts?

A. DO NOT let those 3-5 year experience notes stop you. There is only one way to get experience and that is to go out and find it. please go spend the $12 on "The Dip" by Seth Godin. It is a terrific read at this point in your decision process.

A. Yes, MBA from a top 10 business school in the top 25% of the class . Be bold (what do you have to lose?). Call up Mckinsey, Accenture, etc., and ask them what specialities they are looking for, what business schools they like best, what they are looking for in new employees. The top consulting companies usually visit the top business schools to recruit the newly graduating MBA's, so you don't have to find them - then - they find you. Good luck.
