As the star fuses hydrogen into helium, it releases a big bunch of energy because one atom of helium doesn't weigh quite as much as two atoms of hydrogen. Q. Was gravity invented or discovered? If you say discovered, how do we know it was pre-existing. And is it possible to be sure it even exists at all. It can be proved pragmatically, in that it works. But what if we were wrong, there was something completely different causing the concept to "work"?

Q. Philosophers like Sartre use human freedom as the fundamental basis for their ideas. But how do we know that it even exists? How do we know that actions are not merely the results of causes? Is it racist when white people deny that racism exists?
Q. I have been in many situations where I perceived racism but the white people deny it exists. It's always the same with whites. They claim that we are crying racism. That we are too sensitive. They cannot seem to comprehend that racism still exists today. Is this in itself racism or just ignorance on the part of white?

I believe that even in cases of natural disaster, it was human's choice to park his trailer in tornado alley or build so close to the beach. So, I do not think suffering is a punishment from God, but a result of free will. Someone chose to drink and drive, someone chose to smoke cigarettes, etc. I do believe that there is eternal life waiting for the believers.

It is impossible at our current technological and knowledge level to determine if god exists. Anyone agree?

Well, I remember one of my teachers mentioning a word for people who are not sure if god exists, and it was pretty long so I long forgotten it...but I should know because that's where I stand..but I decided to ask on yahoo than ask my friends because I don't feel comfortable saying that I don't necessarily believe in god.

Why does my program only flashes and exists really quick whenever i debug it?
Q. I use visual studio to compile and debug my c++ programs. Whenever i write a program and i compile then debug, it pops up really fast without me seeing the executed program then exists. It take about 1/10 of a second. but when i start without debugging, my executed program just pauses there and i can see my program running. what might be the problem?

A. I only use visual studio for c#, so I am going to talk about my experience with it there and hope it transfers to c++. When I debug my program in VS, when there is a error in my code, the screen focuses back to the code and it shows me where in the code the error came up. If you make a brand new project with VS, before you do anything, try to run it. Do you still get the same thing? If so, it then sounds like a bug with your install, if not, it sounds like a bug in your code.

How do I determine if a table exists in a SQL Server database?
Q. What I am trying to do is create some code which will allow me to check if a table of a certain name exists in a database. If the table DOES exist, then I want the code to then insert values into the table. If the table does not exist, then the table should be created, and then the values entered. I am encountering a lot of trouble trying to do this...would be very grateful for some assistance.
