A. This could be a lot of things. 1. Reset your cable modem. Unplug for 10 seconds, then plug back in 2. hold down the little button on the linksys router (even if brand new) for like 30 seconds. It should reset to factory defaults. 3. Plug modem into internet port on router. 4. Plug computer into a free port on the router. 5. Check computer settings to make sure it does not have a static ip address. you can do this by going to network connections, Local Area Connection (which should show as connected or plugged in), then right clicking and selecting properties. Then look for TCP/IP properties, and you should see the area where you can change the IP and DNS settings. Make sure these are all blank. 6. You can open internet explorer and type… [cont.]

How to set up linksys router for playing xbox online?
Q. I have a linksys wrt54g2 and every 4 or so hours I lose connection to the Internet. Then the Internet doesn't work unless I unplug the router and plug it back in. I have gotten tired of unplugging the router. I have unplugged the router and just left the modem in and it worked fine so it's not the ISP.

Why does Linksys router not show internet conenction?
Q. My internet works just fine on my PC. I have a wireless linksys router that is used for my laptop. However, when I open the Linksys advisor, it shows I have no internet connection (but I does know I use suddenlink as an ISP.) My PC internet works just fine, and my laptop has an excellent internet signal, but has limited to no connectivity. Everything seems like it should be correct. Any suggestions?
Asked by Riddle - Mon Nov 17 20:29:46 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You do not mention the way that your network is connected, but there are some inconsistencies with your description. When your PCs Internet connection works just fine is it connected directly to the Internet? Does it still work when connected to the Linksys? When connected to the Linksys does it have "limited.." status? If the Linksys says that it does not have an Internet connection, but it did in the past, the information that your ISP is "Suddenlink" may be stored in memory and will remain until you change your ISP. When your laptop says that it has limited or no connectivity, then I know that you have sufficient to excellent Internet signal. What the "limited ..." means is - the physical connection (wireless in this case) is good,… [cont.]

A. I have the same router and Vista. My computer connects to the router. To answering your question then; I need to know how you are trying to connect your router to your laptop first. But I can offer some suggestions for you to try. First, go to Start, then network, then see if a bar comes down and says that new networks are not visible. If so, enable your computer to search for new networks. If that doesn't work, you may be connecting cables wrong as in putting them in the wrong ports and perhaps you are using a router that is not compatible with laptops. But if no one else answers this question with an answer that helps you, call your ISP if you can and see what the problem is. Hope that helps in any way. P.S. I am using a PC with my… [cont.]

A. turn on the wireless card, its either a button or slide switch called wireless lan or wi-fi, right click on the network icon on the taskbar > show all networks or connect to a network what ever, select linksys and connect...if you don't see linksys go to control panel > network and internet > sharing centre > turn on ''Network discovery'' then you will see linksys

Q. I am trying to enable upnp for my linksys wrt54g router but I can't figure out how to get to router configuration. I tried going to but i coudln't log in or anything when i did the blank username and admin as password. Can anyone help?
Asked by Jonathan - Sun Dec 6 08:46:14 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Ask the person that set up your router for the password that they set. If you set it up and didn't set wireless security, then one of your neighbors was more industrious than you and changed the password on you. You'll have to reset the router to factory defaults and set it up again, but this time in addition to uPnP, also enable wireless security and change the admin password.

What causes a Linksys router to start blocking the ports on its own for my connectivity to the internet.?
Q. I have a Linksys router that will all of a sudden just start blocking the ports on its own for my connectivity to the internet. Does anyone know why it would do this on its own and why?
Asked by robert10602 - Thu Jan 28 14:49:52 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. it's not blocking ports it does usually happen when you download and happens a lot faster when more people download trough the same router because router uses look up tables for every connection and when you download they fill up very quickly.

A. It should be fairly easy depending on your model. You should be able to log into an interface through your browser to access the software on the router which enables you to do this, locate the directions and see how to do this first. Like I type this in my address bar for mine: Then I have a username and password to log in (you will likely have a default of like admin/password). Finally, I simply have an update-firmware button which walks me though. Again without knowing your model I can't give you specifics. You can find more information by googling: Linksys router itsmodelnumber upgrade firmware

How To Ping From a Wireless Computer to a Wired Computer using a Linksys Router?
Q. I want to be able to ping and connect to my downstairs computer. Currently I am using a wireless laptop, which is connected wirelessly to my Linksys router. My downstairs computer is directly connected to the same router. How do I ping the downstairs computer?
Asked by Ron Conroy - Wed Sep 30 16:42:48 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Ping (IP Address of downstairs computer) If you are on the same network you should be able to ping. Check the IP address of both machines. If the subnet mask is for instance 255.255.255.0 and the first three octets of the IP address on both machines are the same they are on the same network. IE if your downstairs machine is 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and your upstairs machine is 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 they are on the same subnet and ping should work. Wireless is just a layer 1/2 technology and can be thought of as just another way of connecting. It should not affect ping unless there is something blocking pings (IE a firewall on the downstairs machine, a feature in the Linksys ).
