A. This is entirely possible with a cable router, given you purchase wireless cards for each system.. I've seen it done.. I've linked a guide in the source (however, I'm not sure if this is the same configuration that I saw functional.. but this should still work..) EDIT : That is assuming you have Windows XP.. if you are using older versions of Windows you'd be best just to buy a wireless router and adaptor/card.. you can still cable your mom's in and only need one wireless for your laptop..

I have a Rca Router, however it only has 1 ethernet port, how can I get to connect more than one Ethernet Con.
Q. I have gotten that router from my Time Warner Cable Installation. How can i connect another ethernet if it only has one without having to buy a new router? I don't want to waste to much money. Thank you for your answers

A. Buy what is called a "switch". For example: You come out of the Router into the "switch" which splits the connection as many ways as you bought. Used, a switch, is cheap, last one I bought was $5, keep your eyes open.

Is there anyway to get wireless internet on an RCA DHG535 router?
Q. I just recently upgraded my internet to comcast high speed internet and they gave me an RCA DHG535 router. Before i upgraded i had a wireless linksys wrt54g plugged into a qwest router. When i asked Comcast about plugging the linksys thing into the RCA router they never really answered me. I was wondering if i can have wireless internet on the RCA and if so then how would i set up the linksys thing? (i.e. where to plug it in, etc...)

A. Let's clarify a few things The RCA DHG535 is a modem and VoIP module with firewall. It does not have built in wireless or router capibility. The public IP address is seen on the Internet feed port (RJ 45). Power down the modem, disconnect the pc and connect the Linksys router WAN port to the modem port and connect one pc via straight cat5 to router LAN port. Remove battery from the modem for at least 0.5 minute, reinsert the battery, turn on modem and at least 0.5 min later turn on router and at least 0.5 min later turn on pc. After all are warmed up you should be able to ping the router default gateway successfully. Next ping the com cast DNS server IP 68.87.72.130 and it should be successful. Q. to get wireless settings
Asked by jack b - Mon Nov 23 15:24:33 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you purchase this router and new, the information should have been provided while you were installing it. If it is a used router, you will probably have to get in touch with their customer service to obtain this information. When you purchase a new router you have to set up this information when you install the software.

How can I find out what mine our? Please help. Still doesn't work. I reset router and used the password and user it says it is on the back of it and it still won't allow me to login. A. The Xbox360 has a network troubleshooting function that will tell you exactly what the problem is. It's in the system menu under "network".

Hooking up wireless router to wired one?
Q. I currently have a desktop PC, hooked up to a wired RCA router (router provided by my ISP, Cogeco). I'm getting a laptop, so I'd like to get a wireless router for that (plus, I'd also like to use the wireless router for my Wii). However, I need the wired router, as we have Cogeco digital phone (VoIP). The wired router only has one Ethernet port. What's the best way to set up the wireless router? I'm fairly alright with computers, though I'm by no means fluent in all that technical stuff, so laymans terms would be appreciated. I'm thinking maybe getting an Ethernet splitter, plugging it into the wired router, then running one Ethernet cable to the desktop PC, and another Ethernet cable to the wireless router. Would this work? Any help is… [cont.]

A. Heres a pretty straightforward diagram Modem---(Ethernet Cable)--->RCA Router---(Ethernet)--->WA N Port of the wireless router--->Connect all your computers to the other ports of the router (Also, Since your RCA router only has 1 Ethernet port, i would recommend against a wireless access point, as it will take up the only ethernet port you have and not give you any others... so definitely go with a wireless ROUTER)

Need Help Setting Up Netgear Wireless Router!?
Q. I'm trying to enable my parents' wireless router, but I can't seem to get to the point where my laptop will read the router! They've got cable internet through Comcast, and the cable is connected to a RCA router. A. First of all you need to find out if the wireless router you bought is compatible with the Internet cable service you have. Call Comcast and give them the model number of your router they should be able to tell you if it's compatible or not. I am almost 100% sure that's the issue. If not, the comcast folk should be able to help you configure it with your account so that it can broadcast the signal.

RCA Cable USB Modem to work with Ethernet Cable?
Q. Hi. I have an rca usb cable Modem, which connects to my pc using a USB cable (duh). Anyway, I got a D-Link Wireless Router, which says I need to connect the modem to the computer with a Ethernet Cable (Which I have). The problem is, when I connect with the Ethernet Cable instead of the USB, the computer does not recognize the modem at all. What settings must I change to get it to recognize the modem? Another note: it did come with a CD-ROM, but that is not helping with this issue. It just says it doesnt recognize an internet connection. Also, the USB wont work with the wirless router, it has to be an ehternet cable. Thus, my problem. :)

A. check your network connection, maybe it was disabled, or the driver of your on board Ethernet adapter was not installed. it is normally with the CD-ROM of your mother board. You can check the bios setup of your computer, maybe the setting was disabled. Setting up your wireless router should be through cable, follow the instructions manual.. good luck..

A. Connecting your cable modem to the Router 1.Connect modem to your router's WAN/INTERNET port. Plug a PC to one of the LAN ports (don't worry, if you plan to go wireless on all PCs, you can unplu this later. Best to set up router with a wired PC) 2.Look on the front of the router. Having problems with Lynksys WRT45GS Router on Dell PC with XP Pro...?
Q. I have tried numerous times to configure this router attached to RCA cable internet modem...One day it will have a good signal on my laptop(Dell D800) and now it doesn't. I have reset the router over and over again ...The laptop has an internal wireless card, I have checked it and reinstalled it, does not seem to be working. I purchased this router before Christmas and I am about to give up... Should I just purchase a Wireless network card and see if this works. Please HELP!!!

A. If the signal strength varies it is likely interference. Go into the router and change the channel. Open Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1. On the next screen leave the User name blank and type the password: admin. When into the router wireless settings, change from Channel 6 to Channel 1. That should do it. The router and your computer are fine. Good luck.

Good luck.
