A. The other desktop if its not connected wirelessly they its easy. Just install the drivers for the printer on the desktop thats ethernet cabled to the router. Once installed go to start /settings then printers then on the printer in question right click it and go to sharing and share this printer on the network. But right click my computer/properties then computer name or the like and make sure all computers on the network share the same workgroup . By default MS windows uses the same name. But you can change it to any name you want to. All computers have to have the same workgroup name to share files and printers. Then on the other computer connected wirelessly go to start/settings printers and install new printer and it will ask if its a… [cont.]

What type of wireless does your laptop or desktop need to connect to a wireless printer?
Q. To connect with a wireless printer does your laptop need to have bluetooth, wifi, or just the normal wireless internet connection thing. Thanks.
Asked by CrazyJosh - Wed Oct 29 13:45:25 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. When something says wireless, it usually means WiFi. As long you have wireless (WiFi) built in your computer you can connect to your printer. If you don't have wireless you can buy USB wireless sticks. Very Cheap.

How can I establish my wireless network on a second computer at home?
Q. I have a new computer (Vista) set up on a wireless network (Netgear router) and it is working perfectly. Am trying to set up my second computer (XP and a wireless adapter) but it isn't recognizing any available wireless network. Should I contact my ISP or is there an understandable sequence of steps I should take to establish my wireless network on the second computer?
Asked by mustwinnow2004 - Mon Feb 16 15:04:08 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Use the XP network wizard. The two computers must belong to the same workgroup, so you need to set up the second computer with the same workgroup name. Then turn your attention to the wireless connection for which you need to know the name of the network and the password (these are not the same as the router user name and password unless you set them to be the same). Email me if you are still stuck.

How do I get my wireless working on my laptop computer?
Q. I reinstalled Windows XP and now I can't figure out how to get my laptop to connect wireless. It has wireless capabilities on it. What do I need to do to get the wireless working and connected to a wireless Linksys router?
Asked by Shortstuff - Sat Feb 13 18:05:07 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You need the driver for your wireless card. Go to on THAT computer (otherwise it won't work). Use an Ethernet cable to connect. The update center should be able to find the right driver. It did for me, it should be under "Hardware, optional" when it finishes the search. Unfortunately, Windows does not restore the drivers when you reformat.

Q. Ok i have asked several questions about how to send a wireless signal over a longer distance. I have also been looking online, i have heard talk of both wireless repeaters and wireless bridges. What is the difference?

A. A wireless repeater is a computer networking device which acts as a repeater between a wireless router and computers. A wireless bridge is a hardware component used to connect two or more network segments (LANs or parts of a LAN) which are physically separated.

A. Setting up a secure wireless network (you'll want it secure if you do any online shopping, banking etc) can be a little tricky. I would suggest reading the manual that comes with your modem, it should tell you how to do it. Once the network is set up, connecting with your laptop should be pretty straightforward.

How can I connect a wired printer to my wireless network using a wireless router?
Q. I have a wireless network: a wireless modem connected to a DSL line that connects wirelessly to my computer. My printer has a wired ethernet port. I have a spare router with wireless capability that I could connect to this printer. Without wiring my printer to my modem (they are in different rooms), can I use this router to get my wireless printer to talk to my computer - either via the modem or directly to my wireless card in my compter - whatever is possible. Thanks!
Asked by cleverbird99 - Sun Dec 17 20:33:06 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you have a network printer you can get adapters that will convert a wired ethernet port in to a wireless solution. You can also get a wireless print server to connect the printer across the network with no PC needed. Using the advice above, keep in mind the PC that you want to share the printer from must be on at all times or no one will be able to print.

A. I have a similar setup to what you are trying for, and I can tell you that (Sk8) Julien is incorrect: you don't need a host computer. Here's what to do. Find a router that accepts both wired and wireless connections. There are many on the market; at the moment I'm using a Linksys WRT54G. It acts as a wired router, a wireless access point, and a firewall -- all for about US$50. Using Ethernet cables or wireless connections as necessary, connect the boxes up this way: [Cable modem] --> [Router] --> [Computers]. The router's setup should have a place where you tell it how to connect to the Internet. Enter your login information there. If you have been using client software to log into your cable connection from your computers, you will no… [cont.]

I have one laptop that I bought old with a wireless card included, so I think it should be using a G wireless router, but my friend bought two laptops in different times, newer than mine, but still we don't know If they use N or G. How can I check in the system wich wireless already have included? Thanks

A. 1. You can find out what type of card/chipset you have by going into the system properties. Right click on My Computer | Click on Properties | Hardware | Device Manager | + next to Network Adapter. Then you can just look the card up on the Internet. 2. If you are trying to decide what kind of wireless router to buy, go ahead and get the N it is backwards compatible.

How do i stop my wireless phone from interferring with my wireless internet?

Asked by Josh - Thu May 14 18:36:14 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Josh, Wireless phones operate on 3 frequencies: 900MHz, 2.4GHz, and 5GHz. The last two are the same as 802.11a/b Internet (WiFi). If changing the channel on your WiFi access point does not fix the problem (and it might not because most wireless phones jump from frequency-to-frequency across the 2.4GHz spectrum), I would recommend getting a WiFi access point that operates in a band different from your cordless phone (i.e. 5GHz if your phone is on 2.$GHz). Hope it helps.

A. People can use your connection for downloading media, and it's your IP so you'll be at fault if anyone decides to send you a Cease & Desist note. Also they'll slow your connection if they using it extensively.
